Material Compass provides independent, expert‑based evaluations of online teaching materials to help teachers and educators identify reliable and advertising‑free resources for schools.

The initiative focuses on teaching materials reviewed and assessed by independent experts in digital, financial, sustainability, nutrition and consumer rights education. These evaluations are made available through an online platform.

The platform includes:
- an online database of teaching materials, searchable by topic and education level
- a scientifically developed evaluation grid used to assess the quality of content, the didactic approach and the design of teaching materials


This project is developed by the Federation of German Consumer Organisations ( Verbraucherzentrale Bundesverband-vzbv ) a BEUC member.
