Help students adopt sustainable food habits through cooking

Description

Green Chef helps students adopt sustainable food habits through a cookery competition based on the reuse of leftover vegetables. The aim is to raise awareness on the importance of avoiding food waste and eating more sustainably.

Teams of three students and one teacher create recipes that reuse vegetables and present them in a short video. The best submissions, evaluated by a jury of representatives from the Portuguese Ministry of Education, the Portuguese Environment Agency and the National Commission to Combat Food Waste, are awarded with recognition prizes.

The initiative is open to students and teachers from DECO Jovem schools across all education levels. Teachers can register their teams through the DECO Jovem platform, where participants also have access to dedicated materials and resources throughout the activity.

This project is developed by DECO , the Portuguese member of BEUC, as part of its youth programme DECO Jovem.
