Promote the sustainable use of water among children

DECO Youth
Environment
Description

Waste water promotes the sustainable and efficient use of water among children, helping them understand the value of this essential resource from an early age.

The initiative is aimed at primary school students and their teachers, and is delivered through interactive sessions in schools, organised in partnership with municipalities and water management companies.

Using games and dynamic activities, the sessions explain the water cycle, the importance of saving water and the role each person can play in reducing waste in everyday life.

Through the initiative, children learn how to:
• save water in the bathroom, the kitchen and the garden
• recognise everyday habits that lead to water waste
• adopt small, practical actions to use water more responsibly
• share what they have learnt with their families and bring change home

This project is developed by DECO , the Portuguese member of BEUC, as part of its youth programme DECO Jovem.
